The summer of 2019 was particularly harsh for the champagne vines, with a scorching summer that damaged part of the harvest and almost no rainfall. We therefore estimate a yield decrease of about 30% on most of our plots.
As an active member of the "Matu" network, every summer we take samples from the vines to analyse the degree of ripeness of the grapes, under the supervision of the Champagne Wine Association and the Interprofessional Committee for Champagne Wines. This data, shared throughout the network, allows us to determine the optimal date of the harvest
In this late summer and persistent heat, the harvest should start next week. As every year, we prefer hourly harvests at the estate, with once again this year an international team for our greatest pleasure!
